First time Independent a real alternative in Nepean

On Saturday, the by-election for the state seat of Nepean was retained by the Liberal Party, but with significantly reduced primary vote. One Nation took votes from the Liberal Party, recording a primary vote of 24.7 per cent at time of writing.

Pleasingly, first time independent candidate Tracey Hutchison polled 21.3 per cent and is expected to come second after preferences – encouraging her to re-commit and run again in November.
